Beasts of the Dark Forest

Creatures able to survive in a near pitch black forest are worth studying in their own right. Of particular interest to me are the wolves known to dwell there. There must be a reason they endure in conditions like that. I find myself wondering if the answer lies in their eyes. Bring me one of those unnaturally gleaming eyes.
